Trends in Senior Living Design is a webinar presentation of the Top Ten Trends in Senior Living and the impact and application of those trends on the senior living community industry.

Describing the markets of the future does not require a powerful crystal ball. Instead it necessitates listening to what people say today about what they want in the future, and combining this with a view of the life experiences that are occurring now for those future markets. In other words, identifying what major trends and expectations people are adopting right now helps us know what they will want to carry into their retirement years.

Trends in Senior Living Design uses consumer data from dozens of retirement communities that continue to show changing desires with regard to retirement living, such as:

  • Desire for access to services when and where people want them: flexibility
  • Concerns about pricing/cost
  • Will future cohorts have increased home values?
  • Land costs and availability in desirable locations
  • Decreasing geographic ties
  • Constantly increasing demand for larger accommodations: where do people want to spend their resources?
  • Accessibility to broader community rather than islands

This webinar presentation identifies expectations of future markets based precisely on the above element and market survey data of what people aged 65-69 anticipate that they will want. It also presents results from continual monitoring of more global trends and their relation to the senior living markets of the future. It presents the Top Ten Trends of future senior living along with their impacts on the field, how providers might respond to and take advantage of these trends. It also provides concrete suggestions about integrating them to respond to tomorrows' market demands, and barriers to integrating them into today's and tomorrow's communities.
