Post Electronic Health Record Implementation examines what happens after the successful implementation of an electronic health record, focusing on interoperability, the patient, and the data. This session is aimed at not only those who have braved implementation but those who are about to, providing participants with a picture of where their journey must head next. Specifically, healthcare organizations will need to steer their planning in three major directions post-implementation:

  • Interoperability: How you connect with other constituents, including physician to physician connectivity, physician to hospital, peripherals such as lab and pharmacy, and other entities.
  • The Patient: Consumerism will be a growing driver. As more patients see the trend, patients will demand that their physicians have these systems implemented. This will feed future demand of patient portals and personal health records.
  • The Data: You finally have access to the clinical data that you've never had... what do you do with it? Quality can be demonstrated, and clinical trials can be initiated on a more proactive basis. What you do with it is up to you.
