Moving Through Resistance in Therapy is an interactive workshop that focuses on one of the most challenging issues therapists face in working with patients. Emphasis will be given to increasing the understanding of the role resistance plays in treatment and implementing strategies to decrease resistance in the patient and the treatment team.





Learning Objectives

 

  • Identify and understand the concept of resistance and the role it plays in the treatment process
  • Increase understanding of the role of the therapist/treatment team in the patient's resistance to treatment
  • Identify "non-negotiables" of treatment required to produce positive treatment outcomes
  • Identify strategies to enhance self directedness, decrease harm avoidance, and increase acceptance, commitment, mindfulness and the identification/expression of the authentic self.

 

 


 
 
 
 

About the Speaker



Julie Holland, MHS, CEDS, is Chief Marketing Officer for Eating Recovery Center located in Denver, Colorado. In addition she is Certification Director for the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp) and an iaedp Approved Supervisor. Ms. Holland's 26 year history in the eating disorders and addiction has provided her with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. She is a well-known international speaker, has appeared on national media including Prime Time Live and is frequently quoted in popular media including Mademoiselle, Glamour, and Shape Fit Pregnancy
