Traditional master planning is used to forecast physical improvements for future requirements. New computer-based simulation modeling is a tool that adds value to further investigate capacity and utilization in an evidenced-based manner, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative data. Through case study examples, this session demonstrates how simulation modeling can be used and can provide the design team and owner with "predictive" information to make informed decisions. Participants will learn about its various components, compare and contrast traditional master planning vs. that with 3D simulation, and understand how simulation can bridge the information gap between healthcare designers and clients.
