This program will highlight the challenges faced when integrating Communications/IT and IT related Medical Equipment into the Facilities Planning, Design and Construction process.

 

We know from experience that Medical Technology accounts for the majority of healthcare construction change orders and delays — simply because technology is changing at mind-numbing speed. Yet the PDC process is focused on avoiding rather than embracing change. Traditional Planning, Design and Construction requires that owners finalize all decisions related to construction projects 4-7 years before project completion - yet we know that very little technology is even marketed, much less operationally current, after 4-7 years.

 

This program highlights the changing nature of Technology and Technology integration. It challenges the very foundations of the Traditional PDC process - reversing the process, by starting at project completion, working backwards to create a flexible design, embracing rather than avoiding change, and proactively managing change during construction and activation.
